Fixed Denture Composition:
Fixed Dentures Are Composed Of Three Parts: Retainer, Bridge, And Connector.
1. Retainer: refers to the part of the structure fixed on the abutment, including full crown, post and core crown, partial crown, inlay, wing plate fixed bridge, etc., which is connected to the abutment by the retention force and obtains retention. Among them, intra-crown retention is commonly used. The bridge is connected to the abutment by the retention of the retainer and transmits the occlusal force to the abutment through the retainer. Therefore, the retainer should have good retention and resistance.
2. Pontics: that is, artificial teeth are part of the fixed bridge to restore the form and function of the missing teeth.
3. Connecting body: It is the connecting part between the bridge body and the retaining body. It can be divided into fixed connection and non-fixed connection according to different connection methods.
a. It can not only restore the anatomical shape and physiological function of the chewing organ but also maintain the health of the organ for a long period of time and prevent the occurrence of dental and jaw diseases, such as preventing the elongated teeth of the opposite jaw and the inclination of the adjacent teeth. And can make patients feel the beauty, comfort, and chewing feeling similar to real teeth.
b. According to the structure, it can be divided into a double-ended fixed bridge, semi-fixed bridge, or single-ended fixed bridge and can be extended to a composite fixed bridge, bonded bridge, fixed movable joint fixed bridge, implant abutment bridge, and so on.
c. According to the material, it can be divided into plastic bridges, metal bridges, porcelain bridges, all-ceramic bridges and so on.
