Fixed Orthodontic Appliance Description:
An aligner is usually a stainless elastic wire or plastic product, or a combination of the two mechanical devices, worn in the mouth or maxillofacial area, which is actually a foreign body. In order for it to be acceptable to patients, it does not interfere or less interfere with normal chewing, pronunciation, and other functions, as well as aesthetics, comfort, and durability, it must have the following properties:
1) The aligner has no damage to the oral soft tissue and maxillofacial face, does not react chemically with saliva, meets the physiological requirements, and does not affect the normal growth, development, and function of maxillofacial teeth.
2) The size of the aligner should be as small as possible, comfortable to wear, with as few exposed parts as possible, so as to have little impact on the appearance.
3) Easy to wash, easy to clean, and does not affect oral hygiene.
4) The structure is simple and firm, with good elasticity, easy-to-control force, and good effect; it should have a stable anchorage, the material should have sufficient strength, and the functioning part should be easy to adjust, which is conducive to controlling the direction and size of the corrective force.
An appliance is a device that treats malocclusion (additive teeth) or orthodontic appliances.
